October 4, 1957: First man-made satellite Sputnik launched

The globe was explored by Vasco da Gama and Christopher Columbus and on October 4, 1957, the space age was opened up with the launch of first artificial satellite named Sputnik. The satellite was made by Soviet Union and it used to transmitted radio signals back to Earth. The signal was so strong that it can catch by any bad radios. The Earth-orbiting satellite weighed 83.6 kg and 22.8 inches in diameter that took about 98 minutes to reach the orbit.
