Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid4 Brings Long-Awaited AWD Capability To Compact Crossover

The Peugeot 3008 is finally available in an all-wheel-drive configuration, courtesy of the Hybrid4 powertrain introduced at the Paris Auto Show.

Consisting of a 1.6-liter PureTech gasoline engine rated at 200 PS (197 hp) and two electric motors each producing 80 kW (109 PS/108 hp), the hybrid system has a total of 300 PS (296 hp) on tap. One of the electric motors is located on the front axle and is integrated with the eight-speed EAT8 automatic transmission.

The other is attached to the rear wheels and drives them when the front wheels lose grip or four-wheel-drive mode is selected. When that happens, power is evenly distributed over the four wheels.

A 13.2kWh battery is also part of the hybrid system and allows the 3008 Hybrid4 to travel for up to 50 km (31 miles) on a single charge according to WLTP. CO2 emissions are remarkable for a 4WD vehicle and are estimated at less than 49 g/km.

The benefit of four-wheel drive is reflected in the 3008 Hybrid4’s performance as well. The 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint takes just 6.5 seconds, making it the quickest in the 3008 range.

Customers will be able to spec the Hybrid4 powertrain only on the range-topping GT grade that combines the exclusive Alcantara Greval Grey upholstery with grey oak trim. Along with the Hybrid4 system, the 3008 also gains new driving assistance systems from the Peugeot 508, including adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, and lane keeping assist.

A few months after the launch of the 3008 Hybrid4, the compact SUV will also be available with the 180PS (178hp) front-wheel-drive Hybrid system from the 508 and 508 SW.
