L&T bags Bengaluru airport T2 project

Capacity addition of 25 mn passengers

L&T Construction got an order worth ₹3,036 crore from Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) to construct its Terminal-2 (T2) at the Kempegowda International Airport. The 2,55,000 sq. mt Phase 1 of T2 will augment the capacity of the airport by 25 million passengers per annum, according to a company statement.

L&T Construction is currently constructing the New South Parallel Runway apron and other auxiliary buildings at the Bengaluru Airport.

The work includes design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of Terminal -2, including the integration of services and utilities along with the airport’s systems, support facilities, and buildings. “This win is a reflection on L&T’s capability to do highly complex design & build airport projects to time, with world-class quality & safety requirements,” said S.N. Subrahmanyan, CEO & MD, Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

The Kempegowda airport is India’s first greenfield airport to be built as a public-private partnership. It is operated by BIAL, where private promoters hold 74% (Fairfax: 54% and Siemens Projects Ventures: 20%) stake in BIAL, while the government holds the remaining 26%.
