Bishop’s Camp girls clinch Under-19 title

Pune: The Bishop’s School, Camp girls defeated BMCC 4-0 to clinch the Under-19 title of the Zilla Parishad football tournament being played at Dobarwadi here on Tuesday.

Sakshi Holkar from The Bishop’s School scored the opening goal in the 8th minute to give her team the all important lead. Shubhra Jain doubled the lead for Bishop’s in the 17th minute as the score read 2-0.

Vaishnavi Joshi scored the third goal in the 20th minute while Lamiya Chopdawala sealed the deal for Bishop’s scoring the fourth goal in the 23rd minute.

In the boys Under-17 final, St Vincent’s High School defeated Army Public School, Race Course 5-4 after the score was equalised at 1-1 at regulation time.

Lakshya Harpalani from St Vincent’s gave his team the lead when he scored in the 12th minute. Later Pratik Kumar from Army Public School scored the equaliser in the 39th minute.

In the tie-breaker, Parth Raut, Lakshya Harpalani, Aimar Adams and Mithil Navlakha scored for St Vincent’s while Abdullah Khan, Samaksh Dhiman and Pranav Salvi scored for Army Public School.

Meanwhile in the battle for the third place in the Under-19 girls category, Ness Wadia College Of Commerce defeated opponents Fergusson College 3-1.

Girls: Third place: Ness Wadia 0 (Tie breaker: Sejal Jaju, Eshwari Pachnur, Gargi Dhaibar)  bt Fergusson College 0 (Tie breaker: Shweta Bhagwat).
