The multilingual Theatre Festival that commences on October 11 as part of Soorya Festival brings on stage a host of plays. While Malayalam play Deerkha Chaturam directed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy will be staged on the inaugural day, the following day features a dance ballet, Draupadi, presented by Janaki Rangarajan.
Koothapiran Navabharat Theatres, Chennai, will present two plays — Sadhuranga Parvai and Kaleeswara Bhavanam — on October 13 and October 14 respectively. The following day will feature Malayalam play Karimkutty, originally directed by the late Kavalam Narayana Panicker. While English play Hand of God will be staged the following day, October 17 will see Cosmic Dance of Shiva, a dance-theatre performance choreographed by Madhu Gopinath and Vakkom Sajeev.
Chennai-based Theatre Nisha’s English plays Curse of Urvashi and Water Princess by will be performed on October 18 and 19 respectively. The festival concludes with the staging of Malayalam play Maha Sagaram, directed by Prasanth Narayanan. All performances will be held at Ganesham, Thycaud, at 6.45 pm. Contact: 0471-2323536
