A 16-year-old girl’s body was found in Rohini area on Tuesday morning. Prima facie it appears personal enmity behind the murder, however, a possibility of sexual assault cannot be ruled out.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as a resident of north Delhi’s Burari area where she lives with her family. Police said that the girl’s family had lodged a missing complaint on Tuesday morning.

“A PCR call was made about a passer-by who spotted the body lying roadside. Following the incident, a crime and forensics team was also called on the spot,” said Rajneesh Gupta, Deputy commissioner of police (Rohini)

Police said that there were no external injuries on the girl’s body. We suspect personal enmity but a possibility of sexual assault cannot be ruled out at this stage. Post mortem examination will ascertain the cause of death, police said.

Police are also trying to find out whether the girl had left home alone on Tuesday morning, or she was accompanied by someone.

Gupta also said that the family members and girl’s friends are being questioned to know more. CCTV footage from the vicinity is also being checked to trace the person who had dumped the body in Rohini, the officer said.
