AMBALA: Child panel here is quite unhappy with the functioning of the district police as they have failed to record any statement of the students, who were sexually abused by a former warden of a boarding school in Ambala, so far.

It has been learnt that the cops had demanded a copy of counselling report from the district child welfare committee (DCWC), which they were denied. The DCWC has only provided the copies of the report to the deputy commissioner and the chairperson of Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR).

"The cops had demanded a copy of our counseling report, but we refused to provide the same as was is confidential. The education department had submitted its report to the DC. The copy of the report was not provided to the CWC. We are going to write to the district education officer (DEO) to provide a copy of their report to our team. In our report, we have highlighted the negligence of the police and the education department," said Mohit Aggarwal member of DCWC.

"The district administration has been lazy in acting strictly in this matter and till date, no further actions have been taken. As per the information, it has come forward that the accused had abused the students in Nainital as well," he added.

"We have taken an appointment from the school authorities to recording the statements of the hostel students. Due to holidays in between, the task was delayed. We are investigating the matter. The accused, as of now, is under judicial custody and will remain in custody until he gets bail," said investigation officer Dharamvir.
