Farmers' protests take a violent turn, police use water cannon and tear gas

'Kisan Kranti Padyatra' carried out by farmers demanding loan waivers and reduction in electricity tariff, among others arrived at Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border today. The protestors tried to trespass the barricades set up by the police. Police resorted to using water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd. 'Padyatra' under the banner Bharatiya Kisan Union that began from Haridwar reached the national capital on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
