Watch Tesla Model X P100D Versus Porsche Cayenne Turbo

OCT 1 2018 BY STEVEN LOVEDAY 18

These SUVs are off to the races.

It’s welcoming to see a Tesla Model X P100D strutting its stuff. Although we do share the crazy acceleration of the Model X from time to time, its sibling – the Tesla Model S P100D – tends to dominate our drag strip coverage. Of course, that was until the all-new Tesla Model 3 Performance arrived. Nonetheless, a race featuring an all-electric SUV and one of the top performing electrified SUVs is pretty sweet to see.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo:

  • 4.8 V8 BiTurbo
  • 550 HP/770 NM
  • 0-100: 4.1 seconds
  • 286 km/h

Tesla Model X P100D:

  • All-electric powertrain
  • 612 HP
  • 0-100: 3.1 seconds
  • 250 km/h

Tesla Model X P100D 2019 vs 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo ACCELERATION & AUTOBAHN POV by AutoTopNL

UK: Auto-Top is an honest and pure car filming and testing company. We’re not interested in eco & green (unless it’s like, really superfast). Screaming exhausts, whining superchargers and blowing turbo’s is what we want to hear! We review all sorts of performance cars. In the different playlists you can enjoy exhaust sounds, acceleration tests (0-100, 0-200) with launch control, onboard cams and the revving sound of each car. Exotic cars, hothatches, power sedans. We have it all!

Cool video.

As we can see, the Porsche accelerates slightly faster in the higher speed ranges, and has a higher top speed.

However, the Tesla accelerates faster in the lower speed ranges.

And if you think about pollution and global warming for even one second, the Porsche is a complete non-starter that should never be purchased. It’s a dangerous product of a bygone era that is rightly coming to a close.

Gosh the Porsche is impressive (and quieter at this insane speed)

Steven

Hey, that cayenne is actually good at something.
To bad it runs on massive heaps of fossil fuel.

This vid is from Germany where Telsa are mainly Coal & Gas powered

As USA does.
In 2017, the 62,7% of the energy generated in USA was fossil and 17% was renewable sources.
In 2017, the 50% of the energy generated in Germany, was Fossil, and 33% was renewable sources.

So, maybe using EVs in USA generates more CO2 than expected.

John-EU

Fossil in Germany means lignite! That’s the worst fossil!

viriato

Yes, but USA uses much more fossil than Germany and much less green sources. That’s what I say.

REXisKing

It’s only a small part if their supply. See charts above.

These graphs show Germany in a rapid transition to renewables.

also please note that the porsche’s speedo seems to be exaggerating, as can be seen in its shown top speed of 305 as opposed to official 285. so up to about 200kph tesla should be in front

REXisKing

Good point, almost all speedo’s are “optimistic”, they really should be calibrated before the event.

Mr X

Overtaking at 305 km/h a car that’s doing maybe 140 km/h on a two lane Autobahn is dangerous.

If there were more idiots driving like this speed limits on the Autobahn would be put in place for sure.

Ted

Yeah but I can take the Cayenne and drive from Germany to the South of Spain without worrying about what to do with the car. I can “recharge” it in about 2 minutes, from zero to full, pretty much anywhere.

The EVs are realistically only usable as short range or commute vehicles. And of course they polute, just not there on the spot. Only the thought of so much toxic Lithium being used should scare the environmentalists.
