HC nixes plea for CBI probe in Dalit memorial scam

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Monday dismissed a PIL seeking CBI probe into the Dalit memorial scam which had taken place during the chief ministership of Mayawati between 2007 and 2012.
Earlier, on September 20, 2018, the court had asked UP government to submit progress report of the ongoing vigilance inquiry into the scam, which had taken place from 2007 to 2012.

On Monday, during the course of hearing, the state counsel informed the court that the vigilance inquiry would be completed expeditiously. After hearing counter submissions, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma dismissed the PIL filed by one Shashi Kant alias Bhavesh Pandey. tnn
