Tiger Sam Lloyd set to join Western Bulldogs
Richmond's Sam Lloyd is set to join the Western Bulldogs in 2019 as the Tigers' fringe players seek greater opportunities elsewhere.
The 28-year-old sharpshooter played 57 games for the Tigers but did not play in a final during his time at the club after making his debut in 2014.
He was named an emergency for Richmond's 2016 premiership team and was a solid contributor both up forward and in the midfield throughout his time at Punt Road.
Lloyd's manager Robbie D'Orazio said on Tuesday the forward was set to join the Bulldogs in the upcoming trade period, which officially starts next Monday.
His teammate Nick Vlastuin said if Lloyd was leaving he went with Vlastuin's best wishes, as he had been a great asset for the Tigers both as a player and as a contributor to creating a strong culture at the club.
Lloyd's most famous play as a Tiger was a match-winning goal after the siren against the Sydney Swans in 2016.
D'Orazio and Vlastuin were speaking at the TAB.com.au's spring carnival launch alongside Tom Lynch, who will join Richmond as a free agent in 2019.
Gold Coast put out a statement on Tuesday saying Lynch had told them he wanted to join Richmond as a free agent.
Suns midfielder Jack Scrimshaw is also exploring his options during the trade period and will seek a return to Victoria after being pick No.7 in the 2016 national draft.
He played just four AFL games in his first two years at the Suns.
D'Orazio also confirmed that although West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff was yet to make a decision on his future, he would either stay with the Eagles or join North Melbourne.
