On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary, the makers of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi released their first teaser in which Kangana Ranaut as Rani Lakshmi Bai is seen fighting for freedom like a warrior queen. The teaser is quite grand and visual treat for cine-goers.
Manikarnika teaser begins with a voice over of Amitabh Bachchan in which he explains how the queen of Jhansi fought to get Azaadi (freedom) for motherland. This introduction is followed by grand shots of Manikarnika entering her palace.
Kangana looks fierce and daredevil who fights for the nation. On the other side, Manikarnika teaser also shows queen of Jhansi’s other side which is emotional and caring towards her child. It seems like Kangana is meant to play this role. In a statement, Kangana had said that “I am proud of this film, and of portraying a character who empowers and inspires. We have put in our heart, blood and sweat into making this film. Manikarnika will make every Indian proud.”
Even though the film is all about Manikarnika, the visuals of war also played the vital role in the film. Sadly, visual effects fail to impress us and doesn’t look effective and real to eyes. Apart from that, the teaser also showed some glimpses of Ankita Lokhande who is a part of the film.
Directed by Krish, the film also stars Jishu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongappa, Atul Kulkarni and Zeeshan Ayub among others. The film is written by the writers of Baahubali and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Manikarnika is set to release on January 25, 2019.
