Manchester United vs Valencia

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho denied on Monday that his job is on the line but did say some of his players care more than others ahead of the Champions League Group H match against Valencia on Tuesday.

United have struggled this season, collecting 10 points from their opening seven Premier League matches and being dumped out of the League Cup by second-tier Derby County.

They did, however, secure an emphatic 3-0 victory over Young Boys in their first Champions League group match.

Real Madrid vs CSKA Moscow

Champions League holders Real Madrid will have to work around a string of injuries to key players in a tough match against CSKA Moscow, manager Julen Lopetegui said on Monday.

Real, who have won Champions League three years in a row, will play CSKA in Group G on Tuesday without Welsh forward Gareth Bale and Spanish centre back Sergio Ramos, who were injured in Saturday's goalless draw with Atletico Madrid.

Brazilian full back Marcelo and midfielder Isco are also ruled out.

"We will of course use the resources that we have," Lopetegui said. "We understand that the players who are staying home are quite significant losses for us. But our job to resolve this situation."

Lopetegui added that despite the injuries and a difficult start to the season in La Liga, the team were in a "fantastic psychological state".

"This is the second match. Everything is open," he said. "We are playing away and there is no better motivation than that. The team's motivation is at its maximum."

Bayern vs Ajax

Arjen Robben rejected any suggestion of a mini crisis at German champions Bayern Munich after they dropped points in their last two Bundesliga matches.

Bayern were held at home by Augsburg and lost at Hertha Berlin - after starting the season with four league wins - but Robben said must simply get back on the winning trail against Ajax Amsterdam in the Champions League on Tuesday.

“Augsburg and Hertha didn’t have many chances but they were efficient. We had enough opportunities to score goals but we didn’t use them. That’s how simple football can be sometime,” he told reporters on Monday.

“We are not worried about it, it’s no stress. We will just start a new series of wins and all will be good again.”

Robben, 34, gets to take on Dutch compatriots in the Champions League.
