Claims that BJP propogates violence, hate and falsehood

New Delhi, October 2

The Congress Working Committee (CWC), which met at the Sevagram Ashram in Wardha on Tuesday, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, called for a “new freedom struggle” and said it is the need of the hour.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who addressed a rally in Wardha after the meeting, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had humiliated Indians by stating that India was sleeping till he became the Prime Minister. He claimed that the Narendra Modi regime propagates the ideology of hate, violence and falsehood which are opposite to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.

“He said every citizen will get ₹15 lakh if he comes to power. He said two crore jobs will be generated if he comes to power. Both were lies,” Gandhi said.

Congress’allegations

The Congress president played offense against the BJP on the Rafale scam too. “Money from people’s pockets was given to Anil Ambani. The contract to manufacture fighter jets was given to Ambani’s company, which has no experience in aviation sector. HAL, an experienced PSU, was ignored by Modi’s government,” said Gandhi and added that Modi helped Ambani pocket ₹30000 crore.

Gandhian principles

The CWC resolved to expose the “hollowness and doublespeak” of the ideologies and organisations who have never believed in, let alone followed the Gandhian path of truth, tolerance, harmony and non-violence.

A resolution passed at the meeting said, “Today, a new freedom struggle is the urgent need of the hour – a massive movement to combat the forces of divisiveness and prejudice, to confront the Modi government whose politics is the politics of threat and intimidation, the politics of polarization and divisiveness.”

Ethos of ‘Bharat’

The meeting underlined that it is only the Congress party that truly embodies the ethos of ‘Bharat’ that is fundamentally inclusive, liberal, secular and assimilation of the country’s plurality and diversities.

“ “The CWC calls upon all countrymen and women, particularly the young, to determinedly fight the politics of fear, intimidation, lies and deception,” the resolution said.
