Govt nod for golf course; few ministers object
The cabinet also gave acceptance in-principle for 150 acre golf course in Kaliasot ground in state capital despite the objections raised by some of the ministers. Revenue minister Umashankar Gupta objected to the proposal saying that the land was acquired in that area from farmers. It would lead to controversy if given for another purpose. Even the representative from veterinary department objected saying that it was fertile land and it would not be a good decision to give away fertile land for this purpose. Ultimately, CM had to intervene and decided that only that land should be given for the golf course that is undisputed, therefore nod was given in principle.
