DMK president M K Stalin on Monday urged the State government to reclaim the lands allegedly encroached by SASTRA University in Thanjavur, as per the court order.

Claiming that the institution had encroached the land for the past 30 years, Stalin said that steps have not been taken to retrieve it. 

He also expressed shock over the University’s Vice-Chancellor seeking the support of the Governor during a recent meeting.

“While the authorities act against houses built on encroached lands by the poor, why are they are not taking any action against the private university,” Stalin questioned.

“Who is preventing the government from taking action against the university? Why is the Chief Secretary not showing any interest?” he asked.
