TRICHY: The
Trichy Corporation conducted a massive
plogging drive here on Tuesday to highlight the importance of keeping the streets clean.
Commemorating birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, around 6,000 residents took part in plogging, a fitness activity that combines cleaning the litters while jogging or strolling in streets.
Around 3,000 people mostly youth and college students cleaned the Race Course road in Khajamalai. District collector K Rajamani, city police commissioner A Amalraj and film actors participated in it,
A plogging event was held at Anna stadium as well. “All people should come forward to participate in such cleanliness drives,” said Trichy Corporation commissioner N Ravichandran.
Similar plogging events were held in 65 wards of the city in which around 3,000 people cleared roads, streets and the banks of the Uyyakondan canal.
