Rajasthan Royals to groom budding talent via Royal Colts

Staying true to its vision to promote young talent across the country, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisee, Rajasthan Royals, will start a talent hunt to unleash potential players and provide them with a platform that will open doors for a bigger opportunity. Both the grassroots programme and the team has been christened as ‘Royal Colts’. 

The trials for the same, will be thrown open for players across the country, in the age groups of 16-19 years. Vice president Rajasthan Royals Rajeev Khanna said, “Our panel of scouts, headed by Zubin Bharucha, includes Royals coaches Amol Majumdar and Sairaj Bahutule along with a couple of local selectors who will shortlist aspiring players from a pool of registered candidates.”

After that the final Royal Colts team comprising 16 players will be announced. 

The franchise will be holding trials in Jaipur beginning October 11 which  will be held at Neerja Modi School. Royal Colts team will thus be built around the selected young faces. “At Rajasthan Royals we are passionate about developing talent. Since the start of the IPL we have invested in youth and subsequently launched many players onto the international stage. We are excited to unearth the next group of Indian stars through this programme,” said head of cricket Zubin Bharucha.

The registration can be done online on the Royals’ official website and it will be free of cost. 

Registrations

Registration process will start from October 2-9. The first edition of the event will have 2,000 registrations from candidates in the age groups 16-19 years, born between September 1, 1999 and September 1, 2002.
