GURUGRAM: In yet another case of cop bashing, a traffic cop was assaulted by a truck driver and his two accomplices at Sirhaul border. An FIR was registered against them at the Udyog Vihar police station on Monday. Police are trying to identify the accused with the help of the truck’s registration number.
According to the complaint filed by traffic wing ASI Naresh Kumar, on September 26, he along with two cops was on duty at the Sirhaul border. “Around 11.30pm we signalled a truck to stop for checking but the driver tried to run us over with the truck, but we escaped. When the truck came to a halt, and we asked him for his documents, the driver and his two accomplices started abusing us and manhandling us. They even tore my uniform off and then finally fled with the truck,” the ASI said in his complaint.
An FIR was registered against the trio under sections 279 (rash driving), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) ect of the IPC at Udyog Vihar police station. “We are trying to identify the driver and his accomplice using the registration number of the vehicle and the accused will be identified and arrested soon,” said ASI Dharmendra Kumar, the investigating officer.
