ANAND: Prime Minister (PM)
Narendra Modi on Sunday said that
Amul has not only established itself as a global brand but also emerged as an alternate model to the socialist and capitalist economic model where neither government nor industrialists call the shots After inaugurating Amul Dairy’s
chocolate plant and other projects, Modi urged the home-grown dairy giant to emerge as one of world’s top three milk processors by 2022 when both India and Amul will turn 75 when India celebrates 75th anniversary of Independence.
“I urge cooperative leaders and professionals at Amul to make a resolve to take Amul’s ranking in global milk processing from currently top ten to one amongst top three,” said Modi, while addressing a large gathering at a function to inaugurate Amul Dairy’s chocolate plant at Mogar near milk city Anand.
Just last week, Amul had emerged as the ninth largest milk processor, globally, in the list of 20 top milk processors of 2018 released by the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN), a global dairy research network.
Stressing that Amul is a result of immense struggle of seven decades, he said that Amul has spread its identity to over 40 countries. “It is a proud moment when people in other countries demand for Amul products,” he said “Amul is not just any other manufacturing business. Nor it is just a milk processing. But this is a model of an alternate economy. It has become inspiration worldwide,” he said.
