Win with the weather

Almost five degrees now ahead of a top of 23, which means we're edging closer to name a winner in our competition to pick the first spring day over 30 degrees.

Entries have closed. Now we play the waiting game. Yesterday's Melbourne maximum was only 16.5 degrees, but 30s have been previously recorded as early as September 19. Not this year.

Quake toll climbs: Fears for thousands
