Man held by Delhi police for kidnapping three-year-old

A three-year-old boy who was kidnapped by a man from Sarita Vihar area for a ransom of Rs 7 Lakh on Saturday has been rescued safely by the South-East Delhi police from UP's Muradabad on Sunday.

Police have arrested the accused Sahroj Alam (43), a resident of Muradabad. The alleged accused is the partner of the boy's father in his placement agency. The incident was reported at South-East Jasola area under Sarita Vihar police station on 29 September evening.

The boy's father Ishrafil had filed a complaint with alleging the accused Sahroj Alam on Saturday around 4 pm. He told the police that his friend Sahroj Alam came to his house and stayed the night on Friday 28 September. The father further alleged that the accused took his son when he was playing at home the next day on Saturday morning.

Police said that a case was registered against the accused under Section 363 of IPC in Sarita Vihar police station. Later Section 364A of IPC was inserted in the case and the investigation was taken up.
