HYDERABAD: About 50,000 students, who have to appear for Class 10 exam this year, have been left in a limbo as the government has asked officials concerned to not register students from schools with no
ETR (Extension of Temporary Registration).
According to the private school managements, there are about 1,500 to 2,000 schools in the state, which were not sanctioned ETR's due to wanting of various NOC's.
"I established my school in 1991 and till now I was granted ETR twice. Now, my file is stuck at District Education Office for over 13 months and we are not given any reason for the delay. Fifty students, who have been studying in my school from Class 1, will appear for Class 10 exam in current academic year and it would only be possible if the education officials sanction ETR," said Venkata Rama Rao, correspondent of a school in Santoshnagar.
He added, "I have submitted all the required documents and the only thing missing is a NOC from the fire department. We have taken all precautionary measures and even placed fire extinguishers on each floor, except that we don't have space for fire
engines to move around the building."
The school managements said that parents and students are still not aware of the issue and they would not hesitate to approach the court to get the required permission to ensure that these students write the exam.
"Last year too, the officials had initially not allowed students from about 180 schools to register for Class 10 exam. But after we met the higher officials, the permission was granted. This year too we are sure that students will not face any problem. Students have time till October 29 to apply for the exam and we will get the issue resolved before the said date," said S Madhusudan
Reddy, a correspondent, adding that the officials even tried to stop results of students from these 18 schools, but were forced to release. The school managements said that they are not against following the rules, but they can't be forced to follow impractical rules.
