52-year-old rapes daughter-in-law, threatens to kill grandson when she resists

LUDHIANA: A 22-year-old woman has accused her father-in-law of raping her thrice in the past four months. In her police complaint filed on Saturday, she has also alleged that when she resisted her father-in-law advances, he threatened to kill her two-year-old son.

Following the woman’s complaint, the 52-year-old man was booked for rape, sexual assault and criminal intimidation. However, he is yet to be arrested. The woman alleged that she got married to the son of the accused on July 30, 2015. She alleged that her in-laws owned a garment store and her husband used to market the products sold by them. She said her husband would mostly be out of town on tours.

She alleged that the accused raped her for the first time on April 10. On that day, she claimed, her mother-in-law was at the family store and her husband was on tour. As no one was around, the accused allegedly assaulted her and then raped her. When the woman resisted, the accused allegedly threatened to kill her two-year-old son.

The woman claimed that though she narrated the tale of rape to her husband and mother-in-law, they accused her of lying to them.

The woman further alleged that the she had temperature on April 25, but her father-in-law gave her a medicine because of which she had a miscarriage and then raped her again. She claimed that the accused raped her for the third time on June 24. When she complained to her husband, he slapped her and accused her of levelling false allegations on his father. “I could not share what was happening with my parents. However, on July 29, my father-in-law again attempted to rape me in the family shop, which is located near OUR house. i resisted and rushed out of the shop. i took shelter in a neighbouring shop and informed my parents,” she said in her complaint.

The investigating officer, ASI Bhajan Singh, said the complaint had been lodged two months after the incident. “The arrest will be made police have lodged FIR however the arrested would be made only after investigation.
