SRINAGAR: A photograph of Adil Bashir Sheikh, the J&K SPO who was working as a cook at the official residence of PDF MLA Aijaz Ahmed Mir, went viral on social media on Monday.
In the photograph, Bashir is seen posing with an
AK-47 along with four other militants, including
Hizbul Mujahideen commander Zeenat ul Islam.
The photograph was taken in an orchard at an undisclosed location. ADG Munir Khan, claiming that the police had cracked the case, said Bashir executed the plan with the help of a civilian who also hails from
Shopian district. “We have identified the civilian and he will be arrested soon,” he added. Bashir hails from Zainpora in Shopian district.
The 24-year-old SPO had looted eight AK-47s and a personal pistol of the MLA last Friday, when the legislator was away in Jammu.
Mir, meanwhile, told TOI that he had handed over his pistol to the personal security officers when he went to Jammu some 10 days ago.
