Mumbai: BJP-led Raghuvir Samant panel won all 21 seats of Mumbai District Cooperative Housing Federation in elections here on Sunday. The panel, working under the guidance of legislator Pravin Darekar, defeated Shiv Sena panel, Shiv Prerana. It is said to be a major setback for the Sena.
The federation is considered a prestigious body comprising registered housing societies' committee members in Mumbai and suburban districts. There are about 22,000 societies under it.

It is said to be a victory for BJP ahead of Lok Sabha and assembly elections in 2019.

Darekar told TOI the panel would not have won without the support of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
