RAJKOT: A total of 838 bottles of spurious Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), 2,100 empty bottles and 100 litres of spurious liquor were seized after a counterfeit liquor manufacturing unit was busted in the Kadiavad locality of Junagadh on Sunday night. One suspect was arrested in connection with the case.

Police said the accused, Sunny Sondarva (27), was running the unit at his house in Dabgar Sheri of Kadiavad.

“Sondarva used to mix chemical with country-made liquor and fill them in IMFL bottles of various brands, which he would pack into boxes and put on sale,” said Junagadh A division police station sub-inspector H V Rathod.

Police also seized boxes, bottle caps and stickers of various IMFL brands.

“We will seek Sondarva’s remand. We aim to find out by interrogation where he procured the stickers and boxes of the IMFL brands. We are still to learn if he got them printed or bought them,” said Rathod.
