Alert patrolling staff at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) caught a 27-year-old chartered accountancy (CA) student who was allegedly moving around suspiciously on the second runway, which is under construction. The man had a screw driver with him, the police said.
Head Constable Prabhakar and his colleague, who were on patrolling duty in the airport premises, noticed a man moving suspiciously. He tried to escape when they went near him. The duo caught him after a chase and recovered a screwdriver from his pocket.
They brought the suspect to the police station for further investigation. Upon detailed questioning, he revealed his name as Ganga Prasad Singh, a resident of south-west Delhi. He had come to Bengaluru to pursue the CA course and was living with his friends at Yelahanka.
The police traced his friends and questioned them to confirm his background. A senior police officer said the accused appeared to be disoriented. How or why he sneaked into the airport was yet to be ascertained. The police have booked Singh under various sections of the Karnataka Police Act and remanded him in judicial custody.
