Four teenagers were arrested just hours after they allegedly robbed and stabbed a 30-year-old man to death in Ramotse, north of Pretoria, on Sunday evening.

According to police, the suspects, aged between 16 and 17, allegedly accosted the deceased, who was with his girlfriend, with knives and demanded that he hand over his cellphone.

"They took cellphones from the deceased and the girlfriend and they stabbed the deceased several times on the upper body," Temba police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said.

The suspects then fled the scene and hid in a nearby tavern.

Police, who were accompanied by the deceased's girlfriend, stumbled on three of the suspects around 04:00 on Monday after the girlfriend successfully identified them. The fourth suspect was arrested at his home.

"The cellphones were found in their possession and two knifes that were used to commit crime."

The four suspects are expected in the Moretele Magistrate's Court soon and have been charged with murder and robbery.
