New Delhi Municipal Council organises 'Plogging Drive' at Nehru Park

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) organised a 'Plogging drive' at Nehru Park in Pancharipuri area of New Delhi on Sunday. The motive behind the initiative is to inculcate a habit among the general public to pick the litters from parks, gardens, roads, lanes and surrounding areas while walking or jogging and dispose them into the nearby dustbins.
The Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary of India, Durga Shanker Mishra started the drive on Sunday morning and asked residents of the national Capital to opt for plogging, to give the city a makeover. " Every citizen of the national Capital must take a pledge to make sure their surroundings are clean," said the secretary, MoH.
While addressing the media Mishra lauded efforts of the NDMC and asked the citizens to take it up in their daily routine to make sure the drive a success. "On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti and fourth anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission the civic body launched the 'Plogging Drive' under the Swachhta-Hi-Sewa Pakhwada," added Mishra.
The drive was attended by the Senior Officers of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and its organisations along with the morning walkers of the Nehru Park.
