MaaS solutions must blend into smart cities for success

Harmonisation between technology developments and the cities for which they are intended could see optimised use for mobility services. By Celeste Dooley

Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is an industry disruptor that is seeing much development and exploration from varying automotive sectors. From app-based services to automated transportation systems, mobility is a growing consideration in metropolitan areas across the globe.

However, to ensure success in cities with a multitude of varying requirements and standards, MaaS must integrate itself into the overall ecosystem of the city itself. Co-operation and mutual interest from the local city authorities, the transportation operators and service providers, as well as the consumers themselves, is essential. Individual interests and a lack of harmonisation between these three groups could hinder mobility services in reaching their greatest attainable potential.
