NOIDA: Police had to be deployed in a village near an under-construction metro station in Sector 101 after dismembered parts of a cow were found strewn on Monday morning.

A case has been registered against unknown persons for cow slaughter. As tension simmered in Salarpur village, a heavy police contingent was deployed in the area.

Police said they got information around 10am that parts of a cow had been found in the village. The cattle remains were spotted by local villagers near the under-construction metro station of Sector 101 and they dialled 100 to inform the cops.

Sachin Bhati, who claimed to be the owner of the cow, filed a complaint at Sector 49 police station. Shwetabh Pandey, circle officer III, said an FIR had been registered against unknown persons under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1955.

Bhati said he had last seen the cow in its shed around 11.30pm on Sunday but found it missing when he woke up in the morning. “The cow was four months pregnant. The boundary wall of the house had been damaged a few days ago due to rain. So, I thought that the cow had run away. But when I heard that parts of a cow had been found among garbage, I rushed to the spot and found fresh blood along with bones and the head of my cow,” Bhati said.

Bhati has eight more cows and three buffaloes. He said he was concerned about the safety of these animals.

Lalit Bhardwaj, a loal member of Bajrang Dal, demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Anita Chauhan, the station house officer of Sector 49 police station, said the situation was “under control” and a huge police contingent had been deployed in the village to maintain law and order. “There are no CCTV cameras installed in the area. We are on alert,” Chauhan added.
