Man hit with iron rod over cigarettes

NEW DELHI: A 29-year-old fashion consultant was attacked with an iron rod in Connaught Place over an altercation with some a group of men over cigarettes. The suspects attacked the man when he told them he doesn’t have any as he didn’t smoke.

Senior police officers said that the incident happened on Thursday night and a case under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered. The complainant, Gaurav Patiyal, suffered injuries on his head and face.

Patiyal told cops he was standing with his friend Rohit Bisht outside a showroom in CP, where he works, when the altercation happened. Bisht was also attacked by the men.
