Pakistani helicopter violates Indian airspace in J&K's Poonch sector

A Pakistani chopper on Sunday violated the airspace along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army said.

Jammu-based Army PRO Lt Col Devender Anand said the helicopter violated the airspace around 12:10 pm.

Official sources said a white-colour chopper crossed into this side in Gulpur sector and hovered for sometime before turning back.

According to the LoC agreement, the no aerial object could come within the 5 kilometres of the line of control on each side. But the Pakistani chopper violated the agreement and entered Indian air space and stayed there for almost 2:30 mins, the sources said.

The Indian Army fired at the helicopter with light arms, but the chopper returned before it could be hit, they added.
