MUMBAI: The RPF retrieved a bag containing Rs 2.4 lakh in Indian and foreign currency that a commuter had accidentally left behind in a long-distance train on Thursday and tracked him down. The bag was returned to the owner who works in Tanzania and had come to India for a family event.

RPF personnel on Ajmer-Dadar Express on platform no. 7 in Borivli noticed a grey bag lying on the luggage shelf. After pouring through the bag's contents and going through railway ticket reservation records, the RPF found out that the bag belonged to one Piyush Chotalia, 33.

The RPF managed to contact Chotalia and summoned him to the Borivli outpost to collect his bag. Chotalia told the RPF that he was travelling on the train between Navsari and Surat. He got off at Navsari and forgot that his bag was on the luggage rack. By the time he realised, the train had left.

Besides currency, the bag also contained Chotalia's clothes and an Aadhar card.
