Could The McLaren 600LT Be As Good As The Spectacular 675LT?

Prior to the P1 and 675LT, McLaren’s 21st century supercars lacked the emotion and engagement offered by Italian and German alternatives.

However, it listened to criticism and has since been producing some of the most engaging and fastest supercars to ever hit public roads. With their latest model, the 600LT, it appears that it is continuing this strong run.

The 600LT uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, just like the 570S, but now delivers 592 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. Additionally, weight has been reduced by 96 kg (211 lbs) over the 570S, allowing the 600LT to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, exactly the same as the 675LT.

All-new bodywork also differentiates the 600LT from the other Sports Series models. For example, it comes equipped with a fixed carbon fiber rear wing, a new diffuser, extended front splitter and bold side skirts. These alterations result in 220 lbs (100 kg) of downforce at 155 mph (250 km/h). The new components also make the LT look even more appealing than the 570S.

Like the best ‘hardcore’ supercars of this kind, the spec sheet doesn’t tell the full story. Members of the press were recently let loose in the new Long Tail-badged model at the Hungaroring track and Carfection’s Henry Catchpole was one of them, so let’s see what he has to say about the new Macca in the video that follows.
