Tirupur: A 24-year-old man from Jharkhand has been arrested in connection with the murder of a cotton spinning mill supervisor.
The victim, M Nagaraj, of Virudhunagar, had been working with a private cotton mill at Palladam for the past 10 years. He was found murdered inside the mill premises on September 13, a police officer said.

The Palladam police arrested Kartik Oran of Lohardaga district in Jharkhand in connection with the case on Friday. “Kartik, who was working under Nagaraj, confessed that Nagaraj had beaten him up after he fell asleep during work about 10 days before the murder. Feeling ashamed about the incident, he decided to kill the man. On September 13, a few migrant workers had a quarrel over a petty issue at the mill’s hostel. Nagaraj went to the hostel and pacified the workers. When he was walking towards his unit, Kartik attacked him with a wooden log. He died on the spot,” the officer said.

Kartik was lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody.
