Mumbai: 'Drunk' driver rams car into bike, 2 hurt

MUMBAI: The driver of the chief operating officer of a prominent travel company was arrested for allegedly ramming a high-end car into a bike at Reay Road and injuring two siblings, including a 10-year-old boy, and speeding away early on Sunday. Motorists, who witnessed the hit-and-run, chased the car, caught the driver and and thrashed him.

The arrested accused, Mehboob Alam (32), was booked for drunk driving and rash and negligent driving under the the Motor Vehicles Act . The Byculla police, who are probing the case, have seized the BMW.

Police said the hit-and-run took place around 1am, when Mazgaon resident Alam was returning to south Mumbai from the international airport after dropping his employer, who was travelling to Dubai.
