MANGALURU: An
engineering student was killed on the spot and three others severely injured after the car they were travelling in toppled over near the DC’s office in Manipal on Saturday.
Police said the victim has been identified as
Ivan Anil Kumar, 19, an engineering student from a college in Karkal. They added that the victim along with three others, including two girls, had gone out for dinner, and were on their way back. On reaching near the DC’s office, the deceased who was driving, lost control of the car, which hit the median. He was thrown out of the vehicle due to the force of the impact. The incident took place around 12.15am. Locals present at the spot rushed the victims to a nearby private hospital. Ivan died on the spot, while the rest of the injured in the incident are being treated in a hospital in Manipal.
A case has been registered at
Manipal police station under
Indian Penal Code Sections 323, 279, 338 and 304 (a) in this regard.
