Chlorine-free swimming pool to be opened

Thiruvananthapuram: The state’s first chlorine-free swimming pool is set for opening at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium complex.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the new swimming pool on Tuesday at 5pm. The inaugural ceremony will be held at the basket ball court in Chandrasekharan Nair stadium.

The semi-olympic swimming pool is named after the sea bird Albatros. The pool will also be open to public.

The monthly fee is Rs 2,000 and for police officials, the fee is Rs 1,000.

For children, the monthly rate is Rs 1,500 and for kids of police staff the fee is Rs 750.

Central sports officer (Kerala police) and Thiruvananthapuram range IG Manoj Abraham said that any person can swim in the pool by paying Rs 100 per hour.

The entry will begin from 5.30am. Public can enter the pool only till 7pm.

The pool will be open exclusively to police officials from 6.45am to 7.45am and from 7.30pm.

Special timings have been fixed for children and women. Women can use the pool from 10.30am to 12.30pm and children's entry has been fixed from 3.30pm to 5.45pm.

Manoj Abraham said that the pool meets international standards.
