PATNA: Leader of opposition and former deputy CM
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has alleged that
Muzaffarpur SSP Harpreet Kaur was transferred mainly because she had dared to arrest
Brajesh Thakur in Muzaffarpur
government children home rape case.
Kaur had not only arrested Thakur, but also filed chargesheet in the case within two month of his arrest. The case is now being investigated by CBI.
Tejashwi labelled above allegation in tweets made soon after notification about transfer of Kaur along with six other
IPS officers was issued by state government on Saturday night.
“Kaur was transferred as she had put Thakur behind bars who is blue-eyed boy of
CM Nitish Kumar and also the prime accused in children home rape case. Kaur could not be transferred immediately at that time as everyone had focus on the incident. The CM has made it hard for honest officers to survive. The officer who not pays RCP tax, is made a football,” he alleged adding CM is the godfather of political, social and moral corruption.
Meanwhile, JDU spokesperson
Suheli Mehta termed Kaur's transfer as a routine process. “All allegations of former deputy CM are baseless. IPS officers always get transferred time to time. People only pay income tax here,” Mehta said adding opposition always attempts to dig something fishy in government’s every action.
Kaur, well known as a no non-sense and upright officer, was posted as Muzaffarpur SSP mere five months back.
Her transfer was also attributed as action over former mayor Samir Kumar and his driver Rohit Kumar’s murder who were gunned down using AK-47 near
Banaras Bank Chowk under Town police station area in Muzaffarpur on September 23.
A day prior to Kaur’s transfer, Muzaffarpur City SP Upendra Nath Verma, heading SIT in former mayor murder case, was also transferred.
Urban development and housing department minister Suresh Kumar Sharma had expressed his worry on former mayor’s murder and rising crime.
Sharma is BJP MLA from Muzaffarpur and also is of the same caste of which the slain former mayor was. Incidentally Thakur, is also of same caste.
However, is last several years, no such action was seen in which government removed district’s senior most police officer after some major crime.
LJP leader Brijnathi Singh was gunned down using AK-47 assault rifle near Kachchi Dargah under Deedarganj police station area in Patna on February 5, 2016 followed by BJP state vice president Visheshwar Ojha’s murder at Bhojpur after six days. Manu Mahraaj and Navin Chandra Jha, respective SSP and SP of Patna and Bhojpur, remained untouched even after these killings.
Two incidents, which can be recalled are transfer of Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav within hours after he ordered lathi-charge on madrasa teachers after they started pelting stones on policemen when stopped from moving towards CM house in August 2015. In the other case, in February 2016, Nalanda SP Vivekanand was transferred for poor investigation in alleged rape of a minor by RJD MLA Rajballabh Yadav.
