SURAT: A property developer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his office in Katargam area on Saturday. The deceased left a suicide note mentioning debt as the reason behind his extreme step.

Nagji Dhameliya's body was found hanging at his office by a family member in the evening. The body was sent to hospital for post-mortem and preliminary examinations confirmed that he died of hanging.

According to the police officials, Dhameliya did not hold anyone responsible for his suicide.

“The deceased did not mention exact amount of debt and the family is also not aware about details of it. The family members did not name anyone at present for pressurising Dhameliya to repay the money,” said a police officer at Katargam police station.

Dhameliya did some small construction and land development projects in partnership with someone. He also dealt in land along with his other partners. On Saturday afternoon, after having lunch at home, he returned to office. At around 5pm his body was found from the office.
