Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) projects to widen and concretize Kelibag Road and Old Bhandara Road in Central Nagpur are likely to sail smooth as far as funding is concerned. The central and state governments are likely to approve funds worth Rs357.41 crore for the two projects.
The general body on Saturday approved a proposal to seek funds of Rs137.41 crore for Kelibag Road project from the state government under the Maharashtra Golden Jubilee Urban Renewal Mega Mission. The administration sought 70% of Rs122.14 crore needed for land acquisition and shifting utilities.
Former mayor and BJP corporator Pravin Datke said NMC will seek total funds for the project and that CM Devendra Fadnavis has assured to sanction it. “The project will face no bottlenecks if we get total funds from the government,” he said.
As per the proposal, the NMC will require Rs116.81 crore for land acquisition, Rs5.33 crore for shifting drinking water and electricity networks and Rs15.27 crore for civil works. Under the project, the road with a length of 1,030m from Central Avenue to CP and Berar College will be widened to 24m, followed by concretization.
Datke also said that Union minister Nitin Gadkari sanctioned funds worth Rs220 crore for land acquisition, widening and concretization of Old Bhandara Road. “Gadkari had sanctioned funds from the Union government’s central road fund (CRF). In all, he had sanctioned Rs1,000 crore from CRF for various projects of the city,” he said.
A proposal to allow transfer of NMC workers to other districts was forwarded to the legal consultative committee for verification. Another proposal to hand over Bhapkar garden spread over 2,272.14 sqm in mouza Nagpur and market place of 49.40 sqm at Santra Market to MahaMetro was sent back to the administration.
