Tanjavur Tamil University gets a new Vice Chancellor, G Balasubrmanian

CHENNAI: The governor has appointed Dr G Balasubrmanian as vice-chancellor of Tamil University, Tanjavur for a period of three years with effect from Saturday. Presently, he is holding the post of pro-vice-chancellor in Dravidian university.

As per the press statement from the governor’s office, Balasubrmanian has vast experience in teaching having served in various senior academic positions as professor, dean, head of the department. He has published 22 research papers at national and international level and has also authored four books.

Balasubrmanian has functioned as an external examiner for Singapore University and in the Uiversity of Warsaw, Poland as a visiting professor. He has carried out research projects on the survey, documentation and revitalization of endangered language in the border districts of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, Krishnagiri of Tamil nadu and Kolar of Karnataka and A linguistic description and assessment of language endangerment.
