A Singapore Airlines flight operating on the Singapore-Chennai-Singapore sector on September 28/29 (Friday/Saturday) returned to the Meenambakkam airport a little over an hour after take-off, following an inflight medical emergency. The twin-engine aircraft, an Airbus A330 (9V-SSE), left Chennai at 11.47 p.m. and was cruising over the Bay of Bengal, when the incident occurred around 12.17 a.m. The crew decided to return to the base, with the flight touching down at 12.57 a.m.
An airline spokesperson said, “Singapore Airlines flight SQ529 returned as a passenger required medical attention. There were 270 passengers on board.”
The aircraft left for Singapore at 2.29 a.m.
