A 6-year-old girl died after allegedly consuming eucalyptus oil at her house in Pulianthope on Thursday, the police said.
According to the police, Arun is a resident of Shastri Nagar in Pulianthope. He is involved in contract work for the government. He lives with his wife Lavanya and the victim, Lithika, was the second of their three daughters.
On Thursday, Lithika allegedly consumed the eucalyptus oil and was rushed to the Stanley Medical College Hospital. However, around 1.30 a.m. on Friday she was declared dead. The post-mortem was conducted.
“We have sent the viscera samples to the Forensic laboratory. We can come to an conclusion only after the reports arrive. The parents are now in a state of shock,” a police officer said.
