Transport department has invited proposals

The Institute of Road Transport and the Department of Transport have invited proposals for building a mobile-based application and website that would allow users of bus services to view their schedule in real time.

As part of the Locate and Access My Bus, an app and website project, teams from the State Transport Undertakings have coded the geo-position of about 1,50,000 bus stops across the State.

There are about 22,000 buses benefiting travellers. The project would enable commuters to track the live position of the buses across the State, check their schedule at any bus station, search for a specific bus and ascertain the estimated arrival time at a given place.

“Commuters will be able to share their routes and search results via social media for easier communication to groups or alerting. The app will allow for the various State Transport Corporations to communicate to the commuters via notifications that will alert the user about change in the services, delays or addition of new services,” an officer said.
