More than 380 people are dead in Indonesia, after an earthquake and a tsunami struck the island of Sulawesi on Friday. These pictures from the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency show damage in the city of Palu, near the quake's epicenter.
The tsunami and quake also reportedly knocked out power and closed the major airport in the region , complicating emergency response in more remote rural areas.
Officials say they expect the death toll to rise. Indonesian president Joko Widodo wrote on twitter that he has deployed the military to help with disaster relief. In August, earthquakes in the country killed more than 400 people on the island of Lombok, a popular tourist destination. Additional reporting by Newsy affiliate CNN .
