A 25-year-old labourer died at an under-construction house in outer Delhi’s Kirari after the roof collapsed on Thursday, the police said on Friday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Ranjendra Singh Sagar said deceased Chhotu Kumar lived in Prem Nagar.

The police said he had been working at the site for one Praveen for the last few weeks. “Chhotu was on the second floor when the roof collapsed,” Mr. Sagar said.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. The police have registered a case under IPC Sections 288 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings) and 304A (causing death by negligence), and booked Praveen.

The post-mortem was conducted on Friday and Chhotu’s body handed over to his family. No arrests have been made so far, the officer said.

The incident took place a day after seven persons were killed and and at least five critically injured when after a four-storey building collapsed in north-west Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on Wednesday morning.
