Surat: A 50-year-old developer ended life by hanging self from a ceiling fan in his office at Katargam area of the city on Saturday. He left a suicide note saying debt was the reason he was ending his life. The deceased did not hold anyone responsible for his suicide.
Nagji Dhameliya was found hanging in his office by a family member. His office is in the same building where he stayed. Postmortem on the body and preliminary examination confirmed that he had died of hanging.
“The deceased did not mention the exact amount of debt and his family was not aware about it. His family members have not levelled any allegations against anyone for putting pressure on Dhameliya to repay money,” said a police officer at Katargam police station.
Dhameliya used to take up small construction and land development projects and also dealt in land along with his partners. He went outside and returned to office after having lunch at home.
